CATS - Credit Accumulation Transfer Scheme
| Sometimes it is possible to gain credit for completing parts of a degree. If you have already studied to HND level, on a degree programme, or for professional qualifications before you start your degree, you may be able to transfer credits under the CATS Scheme. This means that if you change course, move to another institution, or take a break from study, you can take the credits with you. It allows you greater flexibility and might allow you to change from full to part time study for instance.

CD ROM
| A high-capacity computer disc which can contain information, articles, graphics, or multimedia files.

Chancellor
| The Chancellor has some responsibilities but is not involved in the day to day running of the University. The real boss, the equivalent of the Managing Director in most companies, is the Vice Chancellor.

Citation
| The information needed to find a publication. For books this is generally the author, title, edition, publisher and publication year. For journal articles it is the author, article title, journal title, date of publication and page numbers.

Classification Number
| The number, usually found on the spine of a book, that corresponds with the subject of the book. The most commonly used, the Dewey system, consists of three numbers and then possibly a decimal point and any amount of numbers. Football's class number is 796.332.

Copy and Paste
| The facility to copy a portion of text in a computer program and add it to another place or document. If this facility is used, copyright must be taken into account.

Copyright
| The rights of an author or publisher to keep control over a work. This means restrictions on the amount of photocopying that can be done from a book or journal.

Course Leader
| Administers the teaching of a course or unit. These members of staff may be able to help you catch up on work missed because of a temporary problem, or deal with any difficulties you are experiencing with a tutor.

Coursework
| A specified amount and type of work undertaken during the course, with marks derived from it contributing to a final mark. |
