et al

An abbreviation of a Latin phrase, et alii, which means 'and others'. Used when writing a reference or citation if a book or article has been written by more than three authors, as in - Smith, R et al.

E-Journal

A journal which is available via the Internet. The journal is usually, but not always, also available in paper format. Also known as Electronic Journal.

E-Mail

Electronic mail. A system that allows messages and files to be sent across computer networks.

Errata

Errors found after a book or journal has been published. These are normally on a separate sheet and attached to the book or journal.

Essays

Essays are pieces of written work which are submitted by students to the university and are one form of assessment. Essays usually have a set number of words depending on the subject or tutor, but are often around 1500 words. Students are expected to answer a question, showing that they have done some research and are able to discuss the issues clearly and logically.
