Detailed biographies including Real Audio sound files and portraits, and a glossary, make this a splendid and easy to use resource.

Glossary of Musical Terms
A useful site containing a database of musical terms that can be accessed by scrolling through the definitions or more directly by using the index on the left. This site could be used to motivate Key Stage 4 students during a music lesson, or for homework which might include researching several definitions for the next lesson.

Music Notes
This comprehensive site contains information on music theory, style, instruments and history. Suitable for music students of all ages and levels, you can take a break from studying and still learn by playing the musical word games or listening to extracts and trying to identify them. Neatly laid out and supported by a dense glossary and appropriate links.

Musicland
This is the beginnings of a growing selection of among others GCSE music resources. In the GCSE section there is a useful glossary of terms, plus there are aural tests for singers or those learning an instrument, essay ideas, lesson plans and a chance for students to send in their own musical compositions.

This an online resource which helps with aspects of the exam such as composition, history of music, theory, the listening exam together with lots of advice and revision hints. There are also interactive tests.
